Ethyl Cellulose (EC) is made from cellulose where some of the hydroxyl groups on the polysaccharide backbone have been substituted with ethyl ether groups. EC is commonly used as an organosoluble film former, binder, and thickener for a variety of applications including inks, ceramics, and specialty coatings.
