Lattice® NT-20 is a microcrystalline cellulose powder with an average particle size of 20 µm. It is typically used as a processing aid for wet granulation tableting.
Lattice® NT-20 is a microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) that functions as a binder and process aid with 20 µm average particle size. It is produced by the acid hydrolysis of wood pulp. In wet granulation processes, Lattice® NT-20 functions as a processing aid to provide better control over granule particle size. It can also be used as a binder in direct compression or dry granulation processes. In these binder applications, it is recommended to incorporate Lattice® NT-20 into systems with similar particle sizes to minimize the chance of segregation. For direct compression and granulation processes, Lattice® NT-20 should be used at a rate of 20%–50% , based on the final weight of the product.
Lattice® NT-20 also has inherent disintegrant properties. It is EPA exempt, making it an excellent adjuvant for agrochemical formulations, such as pesticide tablets, water-dispersible granules, wettable powders, and more. A range of 5-20 wt% is optimal when using the Lattice® NT-20 for agrochemical formulations. Lattice® NT-20 is also useful as a temporary binder in ceramic formulations, as it burns out clean upon firing. For ceramic applications, a 5-10 wt% use rate of Lattice® NT-20 is recommended. Lattice® NT-20 microcrystalline cellulose is only approved for industrial, nonfood, and nonpharmaceutical use.
