Lattice® NTC-80 is a water-dispersible grade of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) powder used as a suspension aid and stabilizing agent.
Lattice® NTC-80 is a powdered microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) that has been processed to include carboxymethylcellulose. The inclusion of carboxymethylcellulose causes Lattice® NTC-80 to be considered a colloidal-type MCC, which has better water dispersibility than standard microcrystalline celluloses.
Once activated and dispersed in water, Lattice® NTC-80 forms a 3D gel network that surrounds other water-insoluble particles in the dispersion. Lattice® NTC-80 is best suited for active ingredients that are difficult to suspend and is stable over a wide range of temperatures and pH. In agrochemical suspension concentrates, Lattice® NTC-80 increases shelf life and provides stability by stabilizing active ingredients and preventing crystal formation.
In ink applications, Lattice® NTC-80 functions as a stabilizing agent to improve homogeneity. In emulsion-based inks for example, Lattice® NTC-80 helps prevent syneresis and increases stability. Compared to Lattice® NTC-61, Lattice® NTC-80 requires a higher amount of shear to be activated and should, therefore, be used in applications that can withstand high shear. For more information on how to disperse and activate Lattice® NTC-80, check out this video.
Lattice® NTC-80 microcrystalline cellulose is only approved for industrial, nonfood, and nonpharmaceutical applications.
