METHOCEL™ E15 Food Grade LV is similar to METHOCEL™ E15 LV but carries food-grade certifications. It is a hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) thickener that yields a viscosity of 12–18 cPs in 2% water.

Product Overview

METHOCEL™ E15 Food Grade LV is a water-soluble HPMC polymer that meets food contact requirements. It has a medium level of hydroxypropyl and a high level of methoxy group substitution. It provides a relatively low viscosity of approximately 15 cPs when added at 2% in water, and it is commonly used a rheology modifier, binder, and suspension aid. Solutions containing METHOCEL™ E15 Food Grade LV offer excellent stabilization properties while imparting lubricity and spreadability. METHOCEL™ E15 Food Grade LV is stable across a wide pH range (2–13) and can be used to improve the workability of coating and ink formulations. Problems such as friction of the die wall in pressing operations or the incidence of ceramic part defects can also be addressed utilizing METHOCEL™ E15 Food Grade LV.  

Applications

METHOCEL™ E15 Food Grade LV is a high-quality rheology modifier that offers low viscosity while improving properties in a variety of applications. It meets food contact requirements and can be utilized in agriculture, battery, coating, ink, and many other industrial applications. 

  • Agriculture: METHOCEL™ E15 Food Grade LV in agriculture applications can be used as an adjuvant in crop protection and a binder in seed coating applications. It provides drift control, rheology modification, and stabilization in pesticides and fertilizers. 
  • Coatings and Inks: METHOCEL™ E15 Food Grade LV is used as a film-forming agent, rheology modifier, and pigment suspension aid in coatings and inks.
